- Introduction
-
The goal of the Architectural Engineering major is to teach the concepts and skills of architectural engineering in order to cultivate creative architectural engineers. It is comprised of four areas: structural engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, and building energy. The objective of structural engineering is to design buildings that are safe and cost-effective, while civil engineering’s goal is to build safe and economical buildings in the shortest timeframe. Environmental engineering and building energy are disciplines that focus on mechanical, electrical, sound, disaster prevention, and energy efficiency to make buildings more eco-friendly and comfortable for their inhabitants. The major’s objective is to teach core engineering technologies that can be used to design virtually any type of building so that students can become architectural engineers who are capable of branching out into a broad range of fields.
