- Introduction

The goal of the Safety Engineering major is to cultivate safety/ health managers in the manufacturing and construction industries in order to prevent industrial accidents. It helps students gain knowledge on engineering and practical expertise on safety management in relation to construction safety, chemical safety, machine safety, electrical safety, ergonomics, and system safety. The major specializes in construction safety, ergonomics, and system safety. Before they graduate, students can obtain certification as an industrial safety engineer, construction safety engineer, industrial hygiene manager, ergonomics engineer, disaster prevention engineer, or fire extinguishing facility engineer. Graduates pursue graduate-level study or find employment as a safety or health manager, public servant specializing in disaster prevention, or designer or superintendent (engineering firm) in the manufacturing industry, construction industry, service industry, public sector, safety management institution, health management institution, safety/health education institution, or safety accreditation institution or at universities/research centers.
