- Introduction
-
The goal of the Child & Family Welfare major is to produce capable workers who are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and strength of character necessary in human services through holistic training on family health, family counseling, childcare, and social welfare. Students take various foundational courses in addition to courses required for their area of specialty (e.g. paedology, childcare, family dynamics/counseling, social welfare policy, and their application). Graduates can enter any of several professions because they will have not only a bachelor’s degree but also Level 2 certification as a social worker, daycare worker, or family dynamics consultant. Graduates go on to become daycare teachers, childcare officers at a childcare support center, after-school instructors, children’s book planners or publishers, childcare program developers, family dynamics consultants, family life instructors, family counselors, social workers, or employees in charge of corporate welfare or social welfare (at a public institution).
