- Introduction
-
Law major seeks to cultivate individuals who know how to use legal means to realize a society that is democratic, constitutional, and conducive to welfare. Given the influence of law in all areas of society, the major’s goal is to produce individuals who can improve our society based on their expertise in the values and ideals of the constitution and strength of character. In addition to courses on legal philosophy, human rights law, constitutional law, civil law, criminal law, administrative law, commercial law, Civil Procedure Code, Criminal Procedure Code, and constitutional litigation, students regularly participate in mock trials to hone their practical skills. Furthermore, in light of today’s rapid social changes, students study and conduct research on laws related to science/technology, healthcare, info-communication, intellectual property rights, and other specialized areas. Graduates can go to law school (take the bar exam), pass an exam for a legal career (e.g. judicial scrivener, certified labor attorney, certified public appraiser, patent attorney), or take the public service exam to become a central/ provincial government employee. They can also become police officers, court officials, prosecutors, correctional officers, or probation officers or work for the legislative branch (legislative investigator) or the Board of Audit and Inspection.
